Storytelling is My First Love, so To Speak.

What began as a childhood love for reading anything I could get my hands on has grown into a lifelong passion for experiencing and telling powerful stories across genres and media. I believe that a good story is one of the most powerful tools we have to inspire ourselves and others and to enact positive change in the world around us.

So although my professional aspirations have shifted over the years, my work has always involved finding and employing just the right words.

My name is Kristine Pike, and I am, first and foremost, a storyteller.

After earning a BA in English Writing, I spent four years teaching English (spoken and written) in Hubei Province, China. I learned firsthand the importance of efficient and effective communication, and though I no longer teach, I still make it my business to empower others in expressing their thoughts accurately and authentically.

Through The Desk Dragon, my mission is threefold:

  • To help entrepreneurs and small business owners tell their brand’s story in a way that resonates and compels their audience to take action.
  • To create modern calligraphy and hand lettering pieces that inspire creativity and help people connect through the power of the (hand)written word.
  • To discover and share effective systems for productivity and efficiency through a combination of digital and analog tools.

If any of those align with your passions and goals, I invite you to take a look around The Desk Dragon and get in touch if you’d like to chat about how I can help you tell your story more efficiently and effectively.

  • My favorite genre to read is fantasy fiction (the Rook & Rose trilogy by M. A. Carrick is a recent favorite!).
  • I love mysteries, thrillers, and action-adventure movies, but I draw the line at horror.
  • I have two cats: Major (a giant orange baby) and Cleopatra (a.k.a. Cleo, a small black-and-white daredevil).
  • My taste in music ranges from musical soundtracks to K-pop — and a whole lot more.
  • I have played the piano (casually) for almost as long as I can remember.
  • Outside of the U.S., I have traveled to five countries on two continents.
  • I’m a tiny bit obsessed with stationery and journaling supplies.
  • My beverage of choice is coffee, except when it’s tea.
